Every rupee collected is recorded against a flat and a month, with who recorded it and when. That record is what ends the "I paid last month" arguments. There are two ways a payment gets in: you record it, or the resident claims it and you approve.
When a resident pays by UPI from the app, they tap I have paid and attach the screenshot and reference. You see a Claims badge on the month. Open it, compare with your bank app, and Approve — the payment is recorded as UPI — or Decline with a short reason the resident sees.
