How Residents Join Your Society on Flatra (QR Poster & WhatsApp Link)

Residents install the app and request to join their flat. You approve. No need to type anyone's number.

The fastest way to get a society onto Flatra is to let residents add themselves. Each one takes 30 seconds, and the secretary's only job is to approve the requests. Two routes exist and you can use both.

Route 1 — the WhatsApp join link (no install needed)

From the dashboard tap the QR icon → Share link on WhatsApp. The message carries a link to a short web page: the resident enters their mobile number, gets an OTP, picks their flat from a list, says whether they are the owner, tenant or a family member, and sends the request. Afterwards the page offers the app download.

Route 2 — the QR poster

Create the QR poster gives you an A4 PDF for the lift or notice board. Scanning it opens the same join page (or the app, if installed).

Step by step

  1. Dashboard → tap the QR icon at the top.
  2. Choose Share link on WhatsApp and post it in the society group, or Create the QR poster and print it.
  3. Residents sign in with their mobile number, pick their flat and role, and send the request.
  4. A red banner appears on your dashboard. Open it.
  5. For each request, confirm the flat and choose Owner or Tenant (or Family, offered only when the flat already has someone), then approve. Declining asks for a short reason the resident sees.
  6. The resident is in — they see their bill immediately.

Who should be what

Keeping track

The App usage screen lists every flat with who has joined and who hasn't. The follow-up card on the dashboard shows how many flats still have nobody and lets you resend the link in one tap.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to type residents' numbers?

No. When a resident joins through the link or QR, their number is saved to the flat as part of approval. You can still add numbers manually under Flats if you prefer.

Can someone join the wrong flat?

They can request it, but nothing happens until you approve — and you choose the flat and role at approval time.

Does the resident need to install the app?

Not to request. The join link works in the browser. The app is needed for notifications and is offered right after the request.

A resident has two flats — how?

Approve them for each flat separately; the app shows both.
